Striped Bass Hybrid striped bass are great freshwater sport fish. Oklahoma Striper and Hybrid Guide Service. Oklahoma White Bass Guide. Oklahoma Sandbass Guide Oklahoma Striped Bass Guide. Pound for pound the Hybrid Striper or Wiper is the hardest fighting freshwater fish there is, hands down!  These open water predators swim in large schools in many reservoirs across Oklahoma.  Watkins Guide Service targets many different lakes in Oklahoma to optimize a year round fish catching experience!!

There are many Reservoirs in Oklahoma but only a select few have respectable Hybrid populations.  Watkins Guide Service concentrates on those lakes that produce fish most of the year.  Skiatook and Carl Blackwell is where we spend most of our time.  These 2 lakes are very well known for producing great Hybrid fishing.  Most of the fish caught range from 3-8 lbs and 50+ fish days are not uncommon, hybrids up to 14lbs have been taken on our guided  trips.

Not only do we do trips on Skiatook & Carl Blackwell but we also fish other top Hybrid and Striper lakes in Oklahoma.  For hybrids all lakes include Skiatook, Carl Blackwell, Sooner, & Birch.  Sand Bass trips are to Ft Gibson during the spawn.

My name is Shawn Watkins.  I have had an obsession with the outdoors ever since I could remember.  I was raised in the Great state of Kansas where as most people know is a great place for the outdoorsman.  I grew up hunting upland game, waterfowl, deer hunting, and fishing for a variety of species.

For the last 8 years I have called Oklahoma home.  Since I have been here I have gotten married to my wonderful wife Samantha and have 2 great kids, Hunter and Jim.

As I have lived in Oklahoma my personal quest for catching fish has only been magnified by the abundance of lakes to fish.  I have always been infatuated by Striped Bass.  I am also a board member for the Oklahoma Striped Bass Association.  I fished many lakes and became very good at catching Hybrids.  So in 2002 I decided to start guiding.   Since then I have met lots of great people on fishing trips.  My favorite aspect of fishing is watching kids catch their first hybrid and getting hooked on it for life.  My goal for each trip is to have fun.  Whether its a corporate outing or an evening with the family I strive to make it the most enjoyable time on the water.

You will be fishing in comfort on my 22 foot Predator center console.  It is powered by a 175 horse Evinrude Ocean Pro.  It is equipped with the latest in Lowrance, Minn Kota, and Humminbird electronics.  The boat will easily handle 5 clients and guide to the lake.  The boat also has a 45 gallon bait tank for fresh bait on each trip.

Predator Boats are made in Checotah Oklahoma.  They make a good quality boat that is used heavily in the Striper Fishing Industry.  These boats are made for catching fish.  Predators are wide and stable to take on rough water while fishing.

Skiatook 3-11 and 3-12

Saturday fished with CDubya and Gileje00 from the notebook. we located fish in a few different spots before we started to fish. we located a big school of sand bass and hybrids in 30-35 ft of water. We had fun catching 15-20 hybrids that were all released and I cleaned 21 sandies that afternoon. Biggest hybrid was 4.5 lbs.

Sunday we went north and found a bunch of fish. we boated 16 hybrids with 2 twins at 6.4 lbs as the biggest. I left those fish biting early for another spot to look at which didnt produce. moved and found another huge school of sandies and hybrids. you couldn't use shad because the sand bass would kill it before it hit the bottom. So we routed to slabing. we used a 1 oz white slab and caught numerous fish in 35 ft of water. The locater was blacked out with fish from 35ft to 30 ft. We anchored up over them with 20+ mph winds and absolutely slayed the sandies. About every 15th fish was a hybrid mixed in. but they where knocking the tar out of our slabs. letting hit the bottom and lifting it slowly about 1ft and slowly dropping back down was the ticket! I brought home about 30 sandies that weighed between 1-2 lbs for the fryer, most of them where right at a pound. I would venture to guess that we boated over 60 sand bass today.
