never seen um eat anything ... I have dropped nightcrawlers in the water to see but they never ate um ... I think eventually they'd get used to their container enough that they'd eat but I bet it'll take a long time. I remember almost losing that bunch of bluegill I had when a freeze froze the water in the ice chest and I hit the tank with some fresh well water and a few of them bellied up but then recovered a little later

Hooked myself up a Redneck Aerator yesterday using your method with a few twists.
I used an igloo cup holder for my housing with a few 3/4 inch holes drilled in it above and below my 500 gpm bilge pump placement. The cup holder has catches in a removable ring on the bottom that held "one of them woman scrubbing things" and then place a scrubber above the pump as well.
1/4 inch tubing stuck in where is was suppose to go and out the top.
Worked like a charm and is pretty easy to disassemble for cleaning and maintenance.
Thanks for the ideas, guys.

K, went down to the car wash and got me a 50 gal drum. Gonna use that till I get me bigger home tank. It oughta be better than that 30 gal for home keepin.

I give up, got the stiffer 1/4" hose and it even lets out more air than the flimsy hose. I will just let it run and put the double aerator hose in there for the aeration, I just aint smart as you T.

are you pushing it up into the pump? or are you just pushing it up flush with the deal you're sticking it into? when the pump is in the little housing push the hose up towards the impeller ... that's gotta be what you're doin wrong cause there's no way that can't work. the hose has to be pretty close to the impeller when the pump is in that little plastic deal you're sticking the hose in. the hose must be pushed through that bottom piece until it's almost touching the pump itself ... it's gotta stick through that bottom piece about 1/4" or so

Well I looked at it some more. I have it almost touching the impeller. I can see some bubbles when I hold it up close to the top of the water, but hardly any when I lower it into the tank. It may be because now I have the 50 gal. drum going and the water is deeper so the hose has to be longer. I will try it in the smaller tank tomorrow with a shorter piece of hose and see if that helps.

it's working right then ... the bubbles should be so small that you can't really see them down deep .. now if you put 1.3 cups of salt per 10 gallon of water you'd actually see how well it's aerating the water as it'll cloud it up real good. that's what you want is the bubbles to be real fine so they'll disperse the oxygen into the water a lot better than if you were getting big bubbles in the water. I don't really see bubbles in my tanks come to the surface because they're real fine and all you see it little bitty bubbles bursting on top if you look real close so it's working right most likely. on that tips section when I ran that one I made for the tips section you couldn't really see any bubbles but just how it clouded the water up with a mist look and that's perfect aeration that way. big bubbles means poor aeration. in water that doesn't have the salt in it you can't hardly see the bubbles but theyr'e there Who's yo Daddy!
