I have used it several times, with no problems. I also use Breakaway line, which is smaller diameter line with the same strength as the rest of the of that # _________________ I live to fish...but lately don't look like I'm gonna be very old. |

| I use 20 lb big game on most all of my reels, 30 lb big game occasionally and 40 lb Big Game for all my leader material. I like the heck out of the Solar Collector color. Easy to see at night & easy to keep track of your different lines during the day. That stuff is tough as nails, is easy to cast, and the knot strength with it is terrific as well. Don't take my word for it though, spool up with 20 lb big game then try to break it off when you're hung up. It's bad to the bone. |

Ok, I just found some at http://breakawayusa.com/shop/acc.htm they have it. Cabela shows the breakaway rods, but not the line. |

I like clear 25 lb Big Game for driftin and short castin for lake fishin in slack water from da boat....usually buy it in 2 or 3 lb spools...main reasoning is high abrasion resistance....I use 50-80 shock leader too. If ya get hung just leave that rod and motor to it when it's time to fish another spot...not good to over stretch long lengths of big game.
For tailrace, 25lb big game is a poor choice....get hung cross current once and you'll understand....plus if ya over-stretch it when tryin to break free then you'll get fissures over a long section of line and line integrity is compromised...about the only option then is a respool with fresh line. Big Game is not an IGF rated line which means that it's dia/break strength ratio is high.....so 20lb breaks at prolly 25 lb or higher. Ande (15-20lb) is a better choice for tailrace cuz of low dia/break strength ratio and added distance with the smaller dia (spool dia stays larger for longer time). Ande is IGF rated, which means it breaks pretty close or just a hair shy of label rating...20lb actually breaks at 18-20lb. Wally Worlds near the coast usually stock ande in 1/4 lb spools at a good price....one 1/4lb spool will fill two 7000's. I've heard good things about Breakaway but never tried it....think it rates about like ande. I also like the original Triple-Fish line...good stuff from 4lb on up...the camo quad color 4lb is great medicine fer trout!
eBay is about your best bet for gettin discounts on the larger bulk spools of line...selection may be limited. Also look at sharkriver mailorder as I've had good deals from them in the past on big spools!
One more thing, store bulk spools in the house (cool and dry) for longevity...just fill up a refill spool for the boat or shore. Tiny talks about line quite a bit in his tips section....take a peek over there! _________________ Ethics are a funny suit......seldom does one size fit all! |
